Gilgit (Press release ) Administrator Municipal Corporation Gilgit Capt (R) Osama Majeed Cheema said that under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Gilgit Naveed Ahmed, action is being taken against those violating the administrative writ in the city to improve the situation of encroachments and sanitation. The district administration along with the municipal corporation has taken necessary steps to control the chaotic traffic in the city and is cooperating with the traffic police and the excise and taxation department to increase the number of public parking areas in Jutial with the help of Gilgit Metropolitan Municipality. It will help in controlling the traffic. The district administration is making serious efforts to solve the growing traffic problems in the city. The public and private vehicle owners should cooperate with the district administration and the municipal corporation and get their vehicles registered with the metropolitan government. This was stated by CCO Municipal Corporation Abid Hussain Mir, SDPO Traffic Police, Assistant Director Excise and Taxation, Deputy Director Disaster Management Authority on Friday. In connection with the joint awareness campaign with the responsible persons of other agencies including the DMO of GBWMC, he directed the public parking in the city, the sources of encroachments and the people to fulfill their responsibilities in an efficient manner. The Commissioner directed the Chief Cooperation Officer, Gilgit Metropolitan Municipality, Abid Hussain Mir, Tehsildar Head, Arthur Mukhtar Ahmed, GBWMC officers to monitor the steps taken by the district administration and the joint teams of the municipality and the waste management company.Strict action will be taken on the negligence of the city, after a detailed awareness campaign in the city on Friday, including CCO Municipality, Tehsildar Headquarters Mukhtar Ahmed, Tehsildar LR Atifullah Khan, Sector Magistrates, GBWM field officers, including revenue staff. Responsible officers were also part of the awareness campaign. In the campaign, CCO MC Abid Hussain Mir, Tehsildar Headquarters Mukhtar Ahmed and GBWMC District Manager Operations Saifuddin Sheikh blamed encroachments, cleanliness, gran selling, self-inflicted inflation by their respective agencies. Aware of the steps taken against Gilgit Metropolitan Municipality Captain (R) Osama Majeed Cheema has given orders to the responsible officers to expedite the steps taken for the solution of civic issues.
