Peace and War: Rising Tensions in the Middle East, Pakistan’s Diplomatic Insight and New Hope for Peace in the Region.

The world is currently going through a very sensitive period where every tension that arises in the Middle East is not limited to a limited region but its effects spread to global politics, economy, energy, trade and security systems. The recent tension between Iran and the United States has once again made the world afraid that if the situation gets out of control, the entire region could be engulfed in a large-scale war. In such a critical time, Pakistan tried to pave the way for peace by playing a very responsible, balanced and far-sighted diplomatic role, which is being appreciated all over the world.

Pakistan’s political and military leadership clearly sent a message that war is not the solution to any problem, but negotiations, patience and diplomacy can be the basis for lasting stability. Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, through continuous diplomatic contacts, consulted with key countries in the region and stressed that any military conflict would not only affect regional peace but would also put the global economy under severe pressure. He took the position that differences between Iran, the Gulf countries and the major powers should be resolved through dialogue rather than force.

At the same time, the role of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir also assumed extraordinary importance. He kept Pakistan’s defense stance strong, keeping in mind the requirements of national security, but at the same time made it clear that Pakistan wanted stability in the region. This strategy of the military leadership presents Pakistan as a serious and responsible state that prioritizes peace despite being fully confident in its security.

Iran also viewed Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts positively. The Iranian leadership appreciated the fact that Pakistan did not close the doors of communication in difficult times but rather maintained constant contact to reduce tensions. There was also a perception in some international circles that Pakistan played a role in conveying several important diplomatic messages behind the scenes, which reduced the chances of an immediate conflict.

Pakistan’s position becomes even more important when viewed in the context of the Gulf countries. Pakistan’s relations with Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait and other Arab states are based on historical, economic, defense and religious foundations. The security of these countries is directly linked to Pakistan’s interests as millions of Pakistanis are serving in these states and play an important role in Pakistan’s economy through remittances. If there is a war between Iran and the US or the Gulf region is unstable, its effects will first affect these countries, which will also affect Pakistan.

Saudi Arabia has tried to improve relations with Iran in recent years. In this context, Pakistan’s diplomacy makes more sense because Pakistan enjoys a relationship of trust with both brotherly countries. Pakistan has always been a supporter of resolving differences within the Muslim world through mutual understanding and understanding rather than external pressure.

If a war breaks out in the Gulf, oil supplies will be affected, prices will increase in the global market, sea routes will be endangered, and the entire world will be under economic pressure. This situation is especially sensitive for a developing country like Pakistan because the increase in energy prices directly affects the country’s economy, industry, transport and daily life. This is why Pakistan advocates peace not only in principle but also out of economic necessity.

Many personalities praised Pakistan’s efforts at the international level. Some international observers said that Pakistan has once again proven that it is not only a defensive power but also has the power of reconciliation in times of crisis. The New Zealand Foreign Minister, while describing Pakistan’s efforts as valuable, said that in such circumstances, only the role of responsible states can save the world from a major crisis. The leadership of Oman also expressed the opinion that Pakistan helped keep the doors of communication open.

A major feature of Pakistan’s foreign policy is that it believes in balanced relations. On the one hand, it has neighborly, religious and border relations with Iran, on the other hand, it has long-standing brotherly relations with Saudi Arabia and the Gulf countries, while diplomatic contacts are also maintained with world powers. This balance makes Pakistan a country that has the ability to mediate in disputes.

If Pakistan continues to move forward with the same wisdom, prudence and diplomatic activity, not only will its prestige in the Middle East increase further, but it will also be seen in the Muslim world as a country that has the ability to reduce differences and strengthen peace.

Today, the world needs countries that prioritize peace despite having war capabilities. Pakistan has proven once again that it is not only the protector of its borders but also a serious voice for peace, balance and stability in the region. This is where Pakistan’s diplomatic insight earns it global respect.
