Thank you to the Lord Mayor of Birmingham, Councillor Muhammad Afzal sb for inviting me to the reception in honour of Ch Mohammad Sarwar sb, the Governor of Punjab.
Governor Sarwar was the UK’s first Muslim MP first elected in 1997 and Lord Mayor Afzal was England’s first Muslim Councillor first elected in 1982 – their journeys are inspirational!
It was nice catching up with many friends including, Raja Zafar Maharoof sb a prominent political leader of AJK , Cllr Waseem Zaffar sb Cabinet Member for Transport and Environment at Birmingham City Council ,Cllr Mohammed Idrees sb , Cllr Zafar Iqbal Mbe sb, Haji Najeeb sb a prominent businessman , Chodhury Mahmood Ahmed sb , Chodhury Ajaib sb and Adil Manzoor sb and prominent journalists of the United Kingdom ( Nasir Mehmood sb , S M Irfan Tahir sb, Syed Abid Kazmi sb , Asif Bratalvi sb , Zahid Khattak sb and Bilal Dogar sb)
