According to him, “currently, the most important tasks are ensuring the safety of EU citizens, strengthening support to Ukraine and ensuring climate transition”.
“During the Swedish presidency, we will also prioritize maintaining a strong European leadership in the transition to a fossil fuel-free economy and a clear competitiveness agenda,” said the head of the Swedish government.
“Security, competitiveness, transition to green and energy, democratic values and the rule of law” – this is how Sweden defined the priorities in the EU Council presidency program.
“The EU and its member states have provided unprecedented support to Ukraine and will always stand by it. Continuous cooperation with reliable partners, including a strong transatlantic connection, must be ensured. The Swedish presidency will give priority to the future economic and military spheres,” says the section dedicated to security.The document also points to difficulties in implementing previous protection initiatives and combating cross-border organized crime.
