According to Ug News Media Europe,The Japanese government, with the help of experts, is exploring the prospect of changing the status of the COVID-19 infection to a seasonal flu category.Ug News Media Europe reports with reference to Japanese media that the country’s Minister of Health, Labor and Welfare Katsunobu Kato said this at a press conference held in Tokyo.Currently, those infected with the second category of infectious diseases in Japan are treated entirely at the expense of the state. After the reduction of the coronavirus to the fifth category, which includes seasonal viral diseases, the treatment and vaccination costs will be paid not by the state, but by the patient himself. If such changes are made, the COVID-19 vaccine will also be paid for.The high level of coronavirus infections in the country prevents such decisions for the time being. At the same time, there has been an increase in the number of deaths from COVID-19 infection since December. Since the middle of last month, nearly 10,000 people infected with the coronavirus have lost their lives. This is about 16 percent of the deaths recorded during the pandemic. In Japan, more than 80 percent of the population has been vaccinated against the coronavirus with at least two doses.
