It’s very simple.”His resignation shall take effect upon the appointment of his successor. The new leader of the Labor Party is still to be elected on Saturday. Ardern was one of the youngest women in the world to lead a government when she was elected in 2017 at the age of 37. New Zealand’s new government will be elected on October 14.
