The new president of the World Bank is expected to be elected in early May.

According to Ug News Europe,The World Bank will elect a new head of the organization to replace David Malpass, who left his post at the beginning of May this year. Ug News Europe reports that this was stated in the information released by the bank’s press service.The Board of Directors of the World Bank discussed on February 22 the preparations for the process of electing a new president of the bank, after announcing on February 15 that Malpass will leave his post until June 30. Candidates for this position must be nominated by the board’s executive directors between February 23 and March 29. Candidates must be citizens of the countries participating in the bank.At the same time, the council strongly recommends that women be nominated as candidates. After the nomination period, the Executive Directors will draw up a shortlist of three candidates and, with their consent, publish the names of the shortlisted candidates.”Executive directors will conduct formal interviews with all candidates on the short list, and they expect to choose a new president by the beginning of May this year,” the World Bank said.David Malpass assumed the position of president of the World Bank in April 2019.
