A crack was discovered in a nuclear power plant in France.

According to Ug News Europe,The French energy provider EDF announced that a larger than expected crack was observed in the emergency water pipe of the reactor at the Penly 1 Nuclear Power Plant in the Seine-Maritime region. In the statement, it was stated that the operation of the reactors in many nuclear plants, including the one in question, was stopped for safety reasons after the crack was discovered. The crack is thought to be related to corrosion found in multiple reactors in 2021.Ug News Europe reports with reference to foreign media that Julien Collet, director of the French Nuclear Safety Organization (ASN), said that the shutdown of the NPP will not last for months.On February 13, a radioactive leak was discovered in the country’s oldest nuclear power plant, which provides electricity to the city of Lyon. In December 2022, EDF reported high levels of tritium leakage in measurements of wastewater from two reactors at the Bugey Nuclear Power Plant, located 30 kilometers from Lyon.
