Discussions on “Islamophobia:European and national legislation” were held within the framework of the Baku conference.

According to Ug News Europe,The first interim session of the international conference”Islamophobia as a specific form of racism and discrimination: New global and transnational challenges” jointly organized by the Center for the Analysis of International Relations and the G20 Interreligious Dialogue Forum, discussed the topic “Islamophobia: European and national legislation.Ug News Europe reports that the session was moderated by Esmira Jafarova, a member of the Management Board of the Center for the Analysis of International Relations.President of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum Taha Ayhanspeaking at the meeting, he said that Islamophobia has become widespread, especially in Europe, and Muslims are suffering serious traumas in this regard. Noting that the burning of the Holy Quran in some European countries is condemned by the international community, T. Ayhan said:The main goal of our organization is to support peace. We wish for radical elimination of Islamophobia. To fight Islamophobia, governments must take some decisions.Discussions should be organized within societies.Islamophobia is a serious problem against humanity.International organizations should promote tolerance.Ismet Jahan, ambassador and permanent observer of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to the European UnionHe expressed the importance of finding serious solutions to prevent the spread of Islamophobia in Europe: “Measures against Islamophobia should be taken at the highest level.We have to do something about it.Humiliating and violent acts against women are more frequent, especially when they are wearing clothes prescribed by Islam.There are even calls for their supposed “liberation”.Europeans’ knowledge about Islam should be increased. The conference in Baku is a good opportunity.Musa Sardar Çelebi,
President of the European-Turkish-Islamic Union, Director General of the Asian Strategic Studies CenterHe talked about the spread of Islam in Europe, as well as the activities of Muslims in various fields: “In many countries of Europe, hatred against Islam continues to grow.They want Muslims to leave their country and this creates inter-religious problems.Terrorist incidents were carried out against some Turks who went to Europe just to work. These cases will continue unless serious calls and appeals are made to the countries where Islamophobia exists.Serious decisions should be made in this regard.Head of the Department of International Relations and Political Science of Turkish German University, Enes Bayraklınoted that Islamophobia is becoming a global trend in the world:This trend is currently taking on a dangerous situation. In some western countries, events related to Islamophobia are ignored and information about it is not recorded. This conference is very useful in terms of taking decisions to prevent such acts targeting Islam. Discrimination against Muslims in Europe has a serious impact on the lives of millions of people. Wide awareness measures should be implemented in this direction.” Leyla Malikova,leading researcher of the History of Religion and Public Thought Department of the Institute of Oriental Studies of ANASin his speech, noting that there is currently a problem of pluralism in the world, he said: “Currently, Islamophobia is spreading widely in countries like France. In many countries, the anti-Muslim trend manifested itself violently a few years ago. In French society, Muslims are portrayed as barbarians and as a result they are subjected to violence. As a result of research on Islamophobia, it is known that this process started in France since the Middle Ages. They consider Islam as an obstacle to modernity. In some countries, there have been specific incidents related to this. The French killed almost a third of the Algerian population and did it with particular cruelty.They implemented brutal policies in other colonies as well. “France also committed atrocities in Nigeria.Ibrahim Yerden, a representative of the Social Sustainability Institute, spoke about the influence of politics and the state on Islamophobia in Western Europe. He noted that Islamophobia is one of the widespread types of racism. It is absurd to attribute the events happening in the West directly to Islam. In this sense, this conference held in Baku is of special importance for the Islamic world.Then discussions were held on the topic.
