A delegation of Jammu Kashmir Self-Determination Movement International (JKSDMI) led by its founding chairman Raja Najabat Hussain Sitara-e-Pakistan met with former UK Labour Party leader and MP Jeremy Corbyn.

The delegation included Secretary General Muhammad Azam, former Lord Mayor of Bradford Chaudhry Rangzeb, former Mayor of Oldham Councillor Shoaib Akhtar, Administration Director Harry Botha and Information Secretary Yasmin Alam. Speaking on the occasion, Jeremy Corbyn said that Kashmir is an international issue which should be resolved peacefully in accordance with the peaceful wishes of the Kashmiri people. He reiterated that he would continue to support the Kashmiri people’s struggle for their right to self-determination in the future as well. He further said that it is the responsibility of the British Parliament and the international community to listen to the voice of the Kashmiri people and take practical steps to resolve this long-standing issue. Jeremy Corbyn appreciated the protests and awareness campaigns in favor of Kashmiris and said that only through these efforts can public opinion be shaped at the global level. The leaders of JKSDMI thanked Jeremy Corbyn for his continued support and expressed their determination that the organization would continue its struggle to highlight the Kashmir issue in the UK and Europe. Raja Najabat Hussain said on this occasion that JKSDMI is launching a new campaign in collaboration with Kashmiri pro-groups in the British Parliament to mobilize more and more members of parliament in favor of Kashmiri right to self-determination. She added that large-scale conferences and seminars will soon be organized in London and other cities in which the Kashmiri and Pakistani communities as well as British politicians will participate so that the Kashmir issue can be highlighted again on the global agenda.
