- A minute’s silence was observed for the martyrs and prayers were offered for them – Mayor Janet Emsley wore a Palestinian keffiyeh – which was attended by local councillors and Pakistani Kashmiris and people of other faiths – It is worth remembering that in British history, former Mayor of Rochdale Councillor Shakeel Ahmed hoisted the Palestinian flag at Rochdale Town Hall for the first time last year. On this occasion, the participants demanded a complete restoration of peace in Palestine, a complete ceasefire – reconstruction of homes and the early full return of the Palestinian people to their homes
And expressed full solidarity with the Palestinian people –
And a special cake was cut
