Peshawar:(Special Representative)According to UG NEWS,It is respectfully informed that FIR No. 17/26 has been registered at Anti-Corruption Circle, Peshawar on 27-03-2026 under sections 66 & 66-A of the Copyright Ordinance, 1962, regarding the illegal sale of pirated Oxford University Press (OUP) books.During the course of inquiry and subsequent raid under supervision of SHO Talha Zaman including SI Zahoor Ali , SI Fahadullah Khan , ASI Shiraz and HC Muhammad Asif at a bookshop near New Islamia Public School & College, Ring Road, Peshawar, accused Altaf Hussain was apprehended while selling counterfeit OUP books. He is acting as the retailer in the network.
Upon his disclosure, it was revealed that the said pirated books were being supplied to him by co-accused Yasir Khan, who is acting as the intermediary/distributor. Raid was conducted leading to his arrest. Further investigation led to another raid and subsequent arrest of Mutawali Khan, who is the main source supplier of the pirated books and was providing the same to Yasir Khan for onward distribution.All accused persons have been arrested, and further investigation is underway to identify other individuals involved in the network.Total 471 counterfeit books of Oxford were recovered and seized vide proper seizure memo.
