Councillor Saghir Zaman of Ghurmala has been sworn in as Mayor of Warrington.

The swearing-in ceremony was attended by a large number of political, social and diplomatic figures, as well as the newly elected mayor’s family.
The ceremonial ceremony held at Warrington Council, where Councillor Saghir Zaman was formally elected Mayor. Saghir Zaman hails from the famous village of Gurmala in Jhelum district of Pakistan, and his becoming the mayor is a great honor for the Pakistani community living in the UK. The ceremony was attended by Pakistan’s Consul General from Manchester Imtiaz Feroz Gondal, former mayor Councillor Shah Hussain, Chaudhry Akhtar Gurmala, Mayor Saghir Zaman’s cousin Chaudhry Shafiq of Gurmala, Zahid Khan, uncle Pakistani, former mayor Moh Hussain, Tariq Dar, former mayor Brent, Councillor Mian Ishtiaq, Syed Sajjad Shah, Chaudhry Arshad, Chaudhry Ghulam Ahmed, Councillor Mian Ishtiaq, Councillor Nadeem, former councillor Rab Nawaz, and Aftab Razaq, among others, who specially attended and congratulated the mayor. After taking the oath, Mayor of Warrington Saghir Zaman thanked the participants and expressed his commitment to the welfare of the community. Mayor Sagheer Zaman’s cousins Chaudhry Shafiq Gurmala, Chaudhry Akhtar Gurmala, Zahid Khan, uncle Chaudhry Arshad, uncle Chaudhry Tikka Khan from Germany, brother Dr. Tahir Zaman and well-known UK social figure Imran Naseeb (Uncle Pakistani) Deputy Mayor Maureen and others said that Sagheer Zaman has achieved this position due to his tireless work, higher education and excellent training of parents, which the entire Pakistani community is proud of. After taking the oath, Chaudhry Sagheer Zaman was welcomed by the community with the beat of drums when he came out of the hall and later all the guests were treated to Pakistani food at the Islamia Community Center.

Newly elected Mayor Councilor Sagheer Zaman says that during his one-year term in office, he will promote unity, solidarity and welfare works among all the communities living in Warrington.
