PSL-8: Babar Azam joins Peshawar Zalmi

PESHAWAR:(Report By Wisal Ahmed) Babar Azam, the captain of Pakistan’s all-format will don Peshawar Zalmi colours during the coming eighth edition of the PSL.
With scoring 2,413 runs to his credit in 68 matches, the right-hander is the all-time highest scorer of Pakistan Super League.
Babar Azam had represented Islamabad United in the opening edition of the PSL. Before the PSL 2017 players’ draft, the Pakistan captain was moved to Kings. He, since then, represented the Kings in six editions of PSL He also captained the Kings this year.
The eight edition of PSL will continue from February 9 to March 19 next year. The matches will be played at four venues — Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi and Multan.
2017 champions Peshawar Zalmi hired Babar Azam in the Platinum category.
During the trade and retention window, a franchise can assemble 8 players before the PSL Player Draft.
Babar Azam is the only player for Peshawar Zalmi in the Platinum category.
Sherfane Rutherford and Wahab Riaz are in Diamond category while Mohammad Haris is in Gold. Peshawar Zalmi are the only team to retain seven players.
Haider Ali is Karachi King’s only player in the platinum category. Shoaib has joined Mohammad Amir and Imad Wasim in the Diamond.
They have retained Mir Hamza, Sharjeel Khan and Aamir Yamin in the Silver category. Qasim Akram is the Emerging category.Lahore Qalandars have retained Shaheen Afridi as its captain. They also retained Rashid Khan in the Platinum category
