Who is Sanjeev Varghese known as Sanju Baba?

I created history in United Kingdom by becoming first Indian, Male, Asian to receive Pakistani, Scottish, African and Beffta Awards. My journey to become a Fashion Icon was not easy and my story is very unique.

My name is Sanjeev Varghese known as Sanju Baba, the name given by the Pakistani community as my life story is a little bit similar to the very well known Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt known as Sanju Baba in the film industry of India. . I am a Syrian-Orthodox, Indian British, Christian who lives in Moss Side, Manchester. In my religion, fashion is prohibited and I always loved fashion & always wanted to be a fashion designer. My parents couldn’t afford to send me on an expensive fashion course. However, when I came to the United Kingdom from Ministry of Health to work as a nurse in Manchester and I bought a house in the black community called Moss Side and used to watch African descent residents, going to church with style and fashion, my curiosity was aroused. I decided to make my own fashion style but my own Asian community were not co-operative, so I withdrew from my dream.

In my life I have faced many consequences for being honest, kind, sympathetic and straightforward.In 2014, I had tragedies in my life when I lost money in my business, discrimination, bullying, harassment and conspiracy at work which resulted in losing my job and I didn’t work hard enough to challenge the allegations put by colleagues. I separated from my wife as she didn’t give me any support during the worst time of my life, which resulted in a breakdown and I was suicidal. I had many medical issues and got counselling. My mother and British brother & friend John Cotterill looked after me and said this is the time when I should change my career and fulfill my dream to do what I always wanted to do. With advice and support from my mother, rather going for alcohol, drugs or any other bad habits, I promised to fight with my situation & started my own fashion style and promoted my fashion. I worked for the community as a Multicultural promoter, volunteer Charity worker and re-started modelling. My work was recognised by some big people on Facebook and I was invited to an interview for an award.

I received my first award as a

Fashion Icon 2016, in the Pakistani Community Centre Manchester UK and I became the first Indian to receive any award by the Pakistani community and in a Pakistani community centre.After that I never looked back.The Pakistani community had a very big impact on my success and fame.I received several awards for my work as a fashion icon, Multicultural promoter and Charity worker.

18.Received Mahatma Gandhi Nobel peace award and Proud Indian Parliament Award 2022.
19.Received Certificate of Appreciation in recognition of my service, dedication, contribution & efforts for multiculturalism 2022.I was a guest of honour of the Award show which held in Constitution Club of India. Rafi Marg New Delhi India on 14th of May 2022.
