With the failure of Operation Barkhana and the rapid rise of foreign dominance on the continent, Emmanuel Macron intends to restore his country’s tarnished image in Africa.Ug News Europe reports that the President of France called for “restore the previous status of our tricolor coat of arms, which was tarnished in Africa”. For this purpose, first of all, the idea of rethinking the military presence and reducing the number of soldiers in the 5 permanent bases of the French army in Africa was put forward. However, although there are more than 6,000 French soldiers in Africa today, it is not yet known what their number will be after the reform.The failure of the French army in the Barkhane operation was acknowledged. It was said that bases in Africa will be turned into military academies and schools.The reality is that distrust of France continues to grow on the continent. French troops have recently withdrawn from countries such as Mali and Burkina Faso.The share of France in Africa is sharply decreasing, and the influence of China, Turkey, Russia and India on the continent is increasing.
