On the International Day of Solidarity with Palestine, which council in the UK was the first to hoist the Palestinian flag, the credit for which goes to the Rochdale councillors and Mayor Shakeel Ahmed. The Mayor of Rochdale, Councillor Shakeel Ahmed, raised the Palestinian flag for the first time in history outside the Rochdale Town Hall. On this occasion, Mayor of Rochdale, Councillor Shakeel Ahmed said that it is a matter of pride for me to hoist the Palestinian flag for the first time at the Rochdale Town Hall. He further said that today is an international day of solidarity with Palestine. We pray that peace will be established in this region. The British Labour government is making efforts for a ceasefire in Gaza. The only solution to conflicts in the world is peace. No country can progress until there is peace and security. I am grateful to those who participated in the Palestinian flag raising today. On this occasion, Akram Atra, who belongs to Palestine, said that the whole world should play its role for a ceasefire in Palestine. The speakers also called on Britain and other countries to continue their efforts to prevent further devastation in the ongoing war in Palestine.
