The foundation stone of the Rochdale Diamond Women’s Group was laid at the Rochdale Wardle Community Centre to empower women. Mayor Rochdale Councillor Shakeel Ahmed, Group G Coordinator Rosie Chaudhry, Deputy Mayor Councillor John Emsley, Wardle Community Centre Chairman Shaukat Ali and Vice Chairman Sultana Begum and Councillor Samina Zaheer also participated. Mayor Shakeel Ahmed said that this group has been started for women who suffer from loneliness and other social problems, which is welcome, as it will build confidence among women. Deputy Mayor Councillor Janet Emsley said that the aim of the group is to empower women so that they also have a voice in decision-makers. Coordinator Rosie Chaudhry said that the aim of the group is to organize meaningful activities for women so that they feel like they belong and can participate in various activities. Wardle Centre Chairman Shaukat Ali said that the group has been formed to empower local women and engage them in various recreational and social activities. Councillor Samina Zaheer said that Bangladeshi women should be involved at the local level. The group was founded to empower and train Asian women. Sultana Begum, Vice Chairman of the Center, also described the group as very useful for their education and training to make them empowered and useful citizens of the society. – Chairperson of Caring and Sharing Nikki also described the establishment of the Golden Women’s Group as useful for the community.
The launch of the Rochdale Diamond Women’s Group will prove to be a milestone in empowering Asian women to become useful citizens of the society and empowering them.
