The special meeting of Rochdale Council was held in the new council chamber of the town hall. The Mayor of Rochdale Council, Shakeel Ahmed, presided over this meeting. This was his last meeting as Mayor of Rochdale. In May, the new Mayor of Rochdale Council, Councillor Janet Emsley, will be sworn in as the new Mayor and she will chair the next meeting. In today’s meeting, the Leader of Rochdale Council, Councillor Neil Emont, praised the performance of Mayor Shakeel Ahmed for one year and said that the performance of Mayor Councillor Shakeel Ahmed has been commendable. We pay tribute to him. The Leader of the Liberal Democratic Group, Andy Kelly, also praised the performance of Mayor Shakeel Ahmed and said that he also conducted the meetings with the opposition. It should be remembered that Councillor Shakeel Ahmed was sworn in as Mayor of Rochdale in May last year and has been the Mayor of Rochdale for the whole year. She is very popular among the people of Rochdale because she leaves no stone unturned in serving the community.
