In which MP Paul Waugh, Rochdale Council Leader Neil Amont, as well as leading figures of the interfaith and cultural community, nominated Deputy Mayor Councillor Faisal Rana, Tahir Mahmood – Chaudhry Khalid – nominated Deputy Mayor Faisal Rana – Aqib – Rochdale Masks Council, Nadeem Mir – Tahir Mahmood – Dr. Tahir Bashir Baig – Kulsoom Khanum – Hassan – Nazim – Sajid – other leading figures participated. Maulana Irfan Chishti led a special prayer – Kulsoom Khanum performed the duties of the stage secretary in a good manner – MP Paul Waugh said that the Iftar party is a very important event in which the interfaith and cultural community participates. He further said that the month of Ramadan teaches patience and tolerance. Mayor Rochdale Councillor Shakeel Ahmed said that various organisations collaborated to make the Iftar party possible, for which I express my heartfelt gratitude. We have reopened the Town Hall today after its renovation. Deputy Mayor-designate Councillor Faisal Rana said that we invited the interfaith and cultural community and made them aware of the importance and virtue of fasting and iftar, which sends a positive message within the community. Council Leader Neil Emont said that the mutual harmony within the interfaith community living in Rochdale is exemplary. Dr Tahir Bashir Baig said that after the renovation of Rochdale Council Hall, it was reopened to the public today and the Iftar party made new history. Other participants at the event said that the mutual harmony between the interfaith and cultural community living in Rochdale is commendable and they respect each other’s culture and religion and participate in each other’s festivals. RCM presented a cheque of £5,000 to Mayor Shakeel Ahmed for the Mayor’s Charity.
