Borough Council Rochdale Mayor Councillor Shakeel Ahmed held a special meeting with British High Commissioner Mr. Matt Kennel and his staff along with a six-member delegation. The Deputy High Commissioner welcomed Mayor Rochdale Shakeel Ahmed and the delegation. In the one and a half hour meeting of Mayor Rochdale with British High Commissioner Islamabad, the situation of the faith community of Rochdale Town, especially the activities of the Kashmiri and Pakistani communities, was discussed in a very happy mood. The delegation included businessman Tahir Mahmood, businessman and President of the PML-N Trade Wing UK Chaudhry Khalid Mahmood, Hunjra – former Mayor Rochdale Muhammad Zaman, businessman Muhammad Javed and Borough Council Rochdale Officer Nazim Suleman.
Mr. Matt Kennel discussed trade between Pakistan and the UK in various sectors. Talking about the relations, he said that there is an annual trade of 4.4 billion pounds, which is being increased in the near future.
The British government is taking immediate steps to deal with any Pakistanis or immigrants who are illegally entering the UK.
The British High Commissioner extended hospitality to the delegation.
The High Commission thanked Islamabad for its visit and also bid farewell to the delegation in a pleasant mood.
