An eight-day program was organized for religious leaders and elders in Islamabad

Leaders of different schools of thought and religions participated in the program.

Islamabad:(Report By Zeeshan Najam Khan) According UG News Media Europe Report, Voice Media Network in collaboration with CRA-North organized an eight-day series of sessions-involving capacity building training, seminar (s), visits to religious sites and dialogue sessions for religious scholars & leaders from Kurrum district of Pakhtunkhwa province. The objective of these training and seminars was to promote harmony at the national level in general and at the local level in particular. Speakers at a recent moot- Farnod Alam, Akhlaq Rasool Khan Khattak, TM Baig, Rafiq Azam-shed light over the significance of peaceful co-existence, tolerance and community cohesion. Impediments and negative attitudes towards peaceful relations were also taken into account, to urge the religious scholars and leaders to play their vital part in promoting interfaith harmony at Kurrum (NMD-FATA).

During the training and seminar, topics like individual and society, citizen and state, democracy and politics, dialogue and critical thinking, diversity and pluralism, constitution and law, religion and culture were discussed. In the light of these topics, an attempt was made to evaluate what are the causes of conflicts and what steps can be taken to resolve them. Also, how important the role of religious figures and leaders in conflict resolution is. Faiza Haseeb, Executive Director Voice Media Network, addressed the participants (online-from Seattle, USA) emphasizing the importance of dialogue and tolerance for peaceful coexistence-on the last day of the training, and thanked the participants and distinguished guests.

These scholars belonging to Muslims (Sunni & Shia), Christian & Sikh community participated in a one-day seminar organized at IRD, International Islamic University Islamabad. Rector Islamic University Dr. Masoom Yasinzai, education and religious expert Ms. Aprilia Susanti from Indonesia, Professor Abeer Sultan from Al-Azhar University in Egypt and Secretary of Islamic Ideology Council Dr. Ikramul Haq also addressed the seminar. In the conversation, the speakers emphasized on religious tolerance, social harmony, promotion of dialogue and contemporary demands and their solutions in education and teaching. Chairman-Prof. Dr. Qibla Ayaz and Secretary to the CII, Dr. Ikram-ul-Haq, gave a special address at the seminar.Meanwhile, exposure visits to Faisal Mosque & Council of Islamic Ideology (Islamabad), Gurdwara Panja Sahib (Hasanabdal), Krishna Mandir and Christ Church (Rawalpindi) were also organized for Religious scholars and leaders to bridge the gap among various ideological groups.
