Completion of Jhelum Forum and wasila foundation joint Drinking water project in village Maldaive, Dina, Jhelum.
Cheque of Rs 90,000.00 was given to the implementation committee formed by the locals in a simple event held in the local community mosque to repair and install the electric motors and allied equipment to resume the water supply from the existing bore to more than 30 families consisting of more than 150 individuals.
Dr Asmat Javed President Jhelum forum, Jhelum branch and Tahir Barlas finance secretary visited the village and presented the cheque.
Brief facts
On receipt of request the Jhelum forum team Dina comprising of Saleem Anwar Kassana and Engineer Haji Safdar visited the site to determine the genuineness and need of family. This procedure of vetting and enquiry is adopted in all the projects before approval and arranging funds.
The JF team reported that the head of the family is disabled person. His one leg was amputated at the age of 9/10, when he was hit by train while crossing the railway crossing.
He instead of begging preferred to work and earn for himself and his family. He is married with family. His wife has also a medical condition.
He has artificial or prosthetic leg and runs a Rickshaw at limited routes and time. He needs help to sit and come out of the Rickshaw.
Due to disability his income is less and cannot afford the cost of bore. The local enquiry has also recommend him as deserving.
Jhelum forum after enquiry reported that more than 32 families are deprived of water and it was decided to repair and fix the existing infrastructure to resume supply water to all including the applicant. A meeting was held of the locals and formed a committee to complete the work. The cost was estimated Rs 90,000.00. Cheque of same amount was given to complete the work. This will create of ownership and locals will be responsible to maintain it in future.

due to approved the project and JF team will again visit to calculate the cost and other implementing issues.
