According to Ug News Europe,The groundbreaking ceremony of the largest Thermal Power Station with a capacity of 1,280 megawatts of the period of independence will open a new page in energy cooperation with Italy. Azerbaijan-Italy relations have led to the realization of a number of international projects. As an example, we can show the Southern Gas Corridor and TAP projects. On October 29, 2013, the State Commission was established by the Decree of President Ilham Aliyev “On measures related to the transportation of Azerbaijani natural gas to the world market through the Southern Gas Corridor”.On February 25, 2014, the Order “On the second stage of the operation of the Shah Deniz gas-condensate field and some measures related to other projects related to the establishment of the Southern Gas Corridor” was signed.The initiative to create a Consultative Council consisting of energy ministers of the involved countries for the implementation of the Southern Gas Corridor project was put forward by the head of our state. The Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Azerbaijan was entrusted with the implementation of issues related to the organization of the work of the Consultative Council. Until now, a number of meetings of ministers have been held within the framework of the Southern Gas Corridor Consultative Council.Iltizam Yusifov, a member of the Milli Majlis, said this in his statement to Ug News Media Europe.According to him, the purpose of the Southern Gas Corridor is to develop the second stage of the operation of the “Shahdeniz” gas-condensate field, and to ensure the export of the natural gas produced at this time to Turkey and Southern Europe through the expanded South Caucasus Pipeline, TANAP and TAP. This project in itself has been called the biggest project of the XXI century. Leading European countries are represented in this project worth 33 billion US dollars. This gives reason to say that Azerbaijan speaks its word as a reliable partner in Europe. All this is the result of a successful policy.Emphasizing the increasing role of Azerbaijan in supplying Europe with energy resources, Iltizam Yusifov said: “In 2021, Azerbaijan’s natural gas export to the European Union market was 8.2 billion cubic meters, and in 2022, this figure was 11.3 billion cubic meters. In the current year, its volume will be at least 11.6 billion cubic meters. The total volume of natural gas to be exported from Azerbaijan in 2023 will be approximately 24 billion cubic meters. For comparison, in 2021, this figure was 19 billion cubic meters. Azerbaijan is expanding the geography of its gas supply to the European market. It’s a win-win situation for everyone. Because Europe needs gas to protect its energy security, and Azerbaijan needs a reliable market for its huge energy resources.Iltizam Yusifov noted that on July 18 of last year, within the framework of the visit of the President of the European Commission Mrs.Ursula von der Leyen to Azerbaijan, the signing of the “Memorandum of Understanding on Strategic Partnership in the field of energy between the European Union, represented by the European Commission and the Republic of Azerbaijan” between Azerbaijan and the European Union is of special importance. The implementation of that document has already started.The Memorandum of Understanding will further strengthen Azerbaijan’s position in the energy market, and at the same time, it stipulates the use of Azerbaijan’s capabilities in meeting the demand in this field.
