Various community figures living in the UK were also present at the meeting. During the meeting, a detailed discussion was held on the current political, economic and social situation of Pakistan and the various challenges facing the country. The participants emphasized that Pakistan needs to move forward with mutual unity, consensus and positive thinking to address the difficulties faced by it, while Pakistanis living abroad should also play their positive role for the wider interest of the country. On this occasion, General (retd) Abdul Qayyum and Mian Muhammad Jahangir appreciated the services of the Chairman of the Forum for the International Relations Development, Professor Dr. Taha Qureshi, for Pakistan and the Pakistani people while living in the UK. He said that Dr. Tahir Qureshi is playing a valuable role in highlighting the positive image of Pakistan on various platforms, strengthening relations between Pakistan and the UK, and bringing the community closer to each other. The meeting also emphasized that Pakistan’s national institutions and armed forces are of fundamental importance for the security and defense of the country, therefore, it is the responsibility of every Pakistani to respect national institutions and prioritize the national interest. The participants said that differences of opinion are part of a democratic society, however, the broader interest of the country and national unity should always be given priority. General (retd) Abdul Qayyum and Mian Muhammad Jahangir, while talking to Dr. Tahir Qureshi, termed the meeting as pleasant, useful and important and expressed their determination that mutual communication and cooperation would be further promoted for the broader interest of Pakistan and the Pakistani community. On this occasion, Dr. Tahir Qureshi thanked General (retd) Abdul Qayyum, Mian Muhammad Jahangir and other distinguished guests for their presence and said that Pakistan is a common homeland for all of us and it is the responsibility of Pakistanis living abroad to play their role for the positive identity, development and stability of their country. He said that the Pakistani community in the UK is rendering outstanding services in various fields and there is a need for all sections to rise above their differences and work together for the interest of Pakistan, national unity and development of the country. At the end of the meeting, the participants expressed their determination to continue positive activities and mutual cooperation for the interest of Pakistan and the welfare of the Pakistani community abroad.
