The dark aubergine velvet dress, designed by fashion designer Victor Edelstein in 1989, was sold at auction in 1997 – a month before Diana’s death. In the next auction, the dress is presented from a private collection.It is recalled that Edelstein made clothes for Diana in 1982-1993. Experts estimate the auctioned dress to be worth 80-120 thousand dollars. The auction will be held on January 23.Diana was the wife of the heir to the British throne, Prince Charles (now King Charles III of Great Britain) from 1981 to 1996. She was considered the “queen” of charity events, a symbol of the fashion world, in addition, Diana conquered the whole world with her uncharacteristic behavior of the royal family. In a 2002 nationwide poll conducted by Britain’s BBC broadcasting corporation, Princess Diana was ranked third in the list of the 100 greatest Britons of all time.The prince died on August 31, 1997 in a car accident in the Paris tunnel under the Bridge of Alma. While Diana’s Mercedes was trying to escape from the photographers following her, it hit the wall of the tunnel at high speed, then the pillar separating the traffic flow and overturned. The prince’s bodyguard was the only survivor of the serious accident. Diana, her lover Dodi al-Fayed and the driver of the car lost their lives.
