According to Ug News Media Europe,On January 11, Speaker of the Milli Majlis (MM) Sahiba Ghafarova met with the delegation headed by Fayez bin Abdullah Al-Shehri, the head of the Saudi Arabia-Azerbaijan inter-parliamentary relations friendship group of the Shura Majlis of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.”Ug News Media Europe” was informed about this by the Ministry of Education.Welcoming the guests, the chairman of the Milli Majlis noted that our country attaches special importance to the development of relations with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the expansion of cooperation in various fields. Today, the relations between our countries are at a high level, and there are ample opportunities for further expansion of these relations. It goes without saying that high-level mutual visits have an exceptional role in the development of bilateral relations.The Speaker of the Parliament emphasized that the development of relations between the two countries began with the visit of the National Leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev to Saudi Arabia in 1994 and is being successfully continued today by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.Emphasizing the effective cooperation of our countries within the framework of international organizations, the speaker highly appreciated the support and fair position of Saudi Arabia to the territorial integrity, sovereignty and inviolability of internationally recognized borders of our country within the framework of international organizations, especially the UN and OIC. It was stated that Saudi Arabia is one of the rare countries that did not establish diplomatic relations with Armenia due to the occupation of Azerbaijani lands, and this is a sign of great moral support and brotherhood shown to the people of Azerbaijan and the state of Azerbaijan.Speaking about the results of the 44-day Patriotic War, the speaker said that Azerbaijan freed its lands from occupation by implementing the four resolutions of the UN Security Council, which had not been implemented for 27 years, and the relevant decisions and resolutions of other international organizations, which demanded the unconditional withdrawal of Armenian armed forces from our occupied territories.He reminded that during the 30-year occupation of Azerbaijan, Armenia pursued a policy of destroying Islamic monuments and insulting mosques, thereby insulting not only the people of Azerbaijan, but the entire Muslim world.The Speaker of the Parliament said that Azerbaijan is carrying out large-scale restoration works in the territories freed from occupation, and the process of returning our former IDPs to their native lands has already begun. It was noted that the mining of territories by Armenia hinders this process.
The chairman of the Milli Majlis said that the Azerbaijanis living in Armenia were expelled from their native lands even before the conflict started, and brought to the attention of the guests that modern Armenia was created on the historical lands of Azerbaijan and that Azerbaijanis have lived on these lands for centuries. The head of the parliament expressed his belief that West Azerbaijanis will also return to their native lands.The speaker said that Azerbaijan is making efforts to ensure long-term peace and stability in the region. However, Armenia evades this issue with various excuses.Then speaking about the development of relations between the parliaments of Azerbaijan and Saudi Arabia, the speaker noted that the activity of friendship groups in the legislative bodies of both countries, cooperation between committees is important in terms of the development of inter-parliamentary relations.Speaking about the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement, which was created at the initiative of the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, Speaker Sahiba Gafarova touched on the importance of cooperation on international parliamentary platforms. The chairman of the Milli Majlis expressed his belief that this visit of the delegation of the Saudi Arabian parliament will serve to further deepen the relations between our brotherly nations and inter-parliamentary relations.Expressing gratitude for the warm hospitality, Fayez bin Abdullah Al-Shehri, the head of the friendship group of Saudi Arabia-Azerbaijan inter-parliamentary relations of the Shura Assembly of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, said that his country attaches great importance to the development of relations and deepening of cooperation with Azerbaijan.The head of the friendship group said that they highly appreciate the high development processes taking place in Azerbaijan under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev. He recalled the views of the head of state of Azerbaijan regarding Azerbaijan being a reliable partner and emphasized that these views are also reflected in the relations between our countries. The guest shared his high impressions of what he saw in Baku during the visit and noted that he witnessed prosperity and peace in our country.
He noted the high level of relations between the two countries, emphasized that cooperation in various fields, including legislative bodies, is in the interests of the peoples of both countries, and shared his views in this direction.
During the conversation, views were exchanged on the development of bilateral relations, inter-parliamentary contacts, friendly and cooperative relations, promotion of economic relations, trade relations, new opportunities for cooperation in the field of investment and other issues of mutual interest.The meeting was attended by the head of the working group of the Milli Majlis on inter-parliamentary relations with Saudi Arabia, Fatma Yildirim, the head of the parliamentary office, Farid Hajiyev, the ambassador of our country to Saudi Arabia, Shahin Abdullayev, and other officials.
