Along with Pakistani men, Pakistani women in the UK are also playing a full role in politics as in other fields. In many councils in the UK, councillors are also mayors and members of the British Parliament and ministers, just like today’s Home Minister Shabana Mahmood. Similarly, for the first time in the history of England in the city of Oldham, the active political leader Councillor Urooj Shah, who belongs to the Syed family of the Gujrat district of Pakistan, has been elected as the leader of the Oldham Council for the second time. Last week, she achieved another success in British politics. She was given the National Council Leader’s Special Award. Today, while talking exclusively to senior British journalist and anchor Arif Chaudhry, she said that I worked very hard and honestly in politics, which is why I got this award – and I dedicate this award to the people of Oldham – to this point.
