Guba:(International Desk) According to Ug News Europe,Former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, who visited Azerbaijan to participate in the 10th Global Baku Forum, visited Guba region.The regional correspondent of Ug News Europe reports that in the meeting with the guest at the Guba District Executive Authority, detailed information was given about the history of the district, its development path in recent times, the minority peoples living here, and the atmosphere of tolerance in the district.The former Prime Minister of Israel met with representatives of the local community in the Red Settlement, where mountain Jews live compactly in Gubada, and got acquainted with the “Gilaki” and “Alti Gombez” synagogues of the World Mountain Jewry History and Ethnography Museum.It was reported that the Red Settlement is the rare place in the world where Jews live most compactly after Israel.The Jews living in the settlement called “Jerusalem of the Caucasus” have been living their traditions for many years.The Jewish religious community and the national cultural center operate here.The settlement of Mountain Jews in Guba dates back to the middle of the 18th century.During the time when Fatali Khan was in charge of the Guba Khanate, Jews living in the surrounding areas began to move here. At that time, more than 10 synagogues were built in Jewish neighborhoods.For many years, the Jews here live together with the Azerbaijanis in peace and tranquility.
