According to Ug News Media Europe,There is about 2-2.5 months to fulfill the necessary conditions for the ratification of the applications of Sweden and Finland to NATO by Turkey.”Ug News Media Europe” informs with reference to “Reuters” that this was stated by the spokesman of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Ibrahim Kalin.According to him, there is only so much time left before the Turkish Grand National Assembly goes on vacation before the presidential elections:
“If they want to join NATO before the alliance summit, we have a time issue. Considering that the parliament will go on vacation some time before the elections, you (Sweden and Finland – Red) have 2-2.5 months to do all this.Kalın said that the approval of Sweden and Finland’s applications by the Turkish parliament depends on how quickly the parties fulfill Ankara’s demands. He also added that mainly changes are required from Stockholm:
“Sweden is fully committed to the implementation of the agreement signed in Madrid last year. But it will take another six months to introduce legislation that will allow the country’s judiciary to apply the new definitions of terrorism. As a result, Stockholm should send a signal to terrorist organizations that Sweden is no longer a safe haven for them.”
Earlier, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlud Çavuşoğlu said that Ankara will not support Sweden’s NATO membership until Stockholm takes decisive measures against those who support the PKK terrorist organization.
