Manchester: Thousands of residents and visitors lined the streets of Manchester today to enjoy the vibrant and colourful Manchester Day Parade 2026, organised by Manchester City Council. The annual event brought together a wide range of community groups, cultural organisations, women’s groups, and young performers who proudly showcased their creativity through impressive floats, music, dance, and live performances.
The parade featured more than 25 community groups and hundreds of performers, reflecting the rich cultural diversity that makes Manchester one of the UK’s most dynamic cities. Spectators cheered as participants in traditional costumes and themed floats made their way through the city centre, creating a festive atmosphere enjoyed by people of all ages.
The Chief Guest of the parade was the Lord Mayor of Manchester, Councillor Shaukat Ali, who attended the celebrations and welcomed the outstanding participation of Manchester’s diverse communities. His presence highlighted the city’s continued commitment to unity, inclusion, and multiculturalism.
Community organisations used the event as an opportunity to celebrate their heritage, promote inclusion, and highlight the contributions of Manchester’s diverse communities. Girls and women participating in various groups drew particular attention with their beautifully decorated floats and energetic performances.
Manchester City Council said the annual celebration aims to bring communities together, strengthen social connections, and showcase the city’s creativity and cultural richness. The huge turnout once again demonstrated the strong community spirit that continues to define Manchester.
