









Manchester (Staff Reporter) — Under the auspices of UG Art & Culture Manchester, a soulful and inspiring poetry evening titled “Shaam-e-Khizaan” was held, attracting renowned poets, literary figures, and community leaders from across the city.
The event was gracefully hosted by Faeeqa Gul.
Sabira Naheed Chaudhary, President of UG Art & Culture, introduced the organization and shared its mission of promoting cultural, literary, and philanthropic activities through community self-help initiatives.
Shabana Iqbal, President of the Women’s Wing, expressed deep gratitude to the volunteers, especially Tanzeela and Shaista, for their exceptional hospitality and dedication.
The administration of Open Kitchen Manchester—Chairman Shehzad Ali Mirza, President Aamir Khan, and their team—warmly welcomed the guests. Aamir Khan acknowledged the large turnout despite unfavorable weather conditions, highlighting the community’s passionate attachment to literature and culture.
Special guests Shariq Khan and Shakeel Qamar enriched the evening with their poetic recitations. The session was presided over by Liaqat Ali Ahad, who concluded the event with a heartfelt performance.
Distinguished poets including Faeeqa Gul Sahibzada, Dr. Iqbal Naeem, Shehzad Basheer Arain, Mishaal Aqeel Pinki, Dr. Naeem Ashraf, Afzal, Asma Azam, Sobia Anbar, and Farzana Afzal mesmerized the audience with their stirring verses.
Prominent attendees such as Mahmood Asghar Chaudhary, Chaudhary Imtiaz, Sohbat Ali, Shoaib Khan, Mustafa Mughal, and Nadeem Tahir added to the event’s prestige.
Humayoun Sahibzada, Director of HS TV, recently lost his younger brother in Pakistan.
A special prayer for the departed soul was led by Shehzad Ali Mirza, with full participation from the attendees.
A highlight of the evening was the cutting of the 17th anniversary cake of Dunya TV, celebrated warmly by all. Mustafa Mughal, Dunya TV’s Manchester correspondent, was lauded for his dedicated and tireless coverage of local community events.
In closing remarks, Chairman Shehzad Ali Mirza said:
“For the past five and a half years, we have been running Open Kitchen with a mission to serve humanity. Providing free meals to those in need is a noble act. We do not seek funds from anyone and pray for Allah’s blessings to continue this service.”
He also announced the launch of a monthly ‘Sufi Night’ to further enrich community cultural engagement.
