Organised by Work for Smile and Urdu Global — Two Minutes’ Silence Observed in Honour of the Fallen Heroes

A dignified and heartfelt ceremony was held at Open Kitchen Manchester to mark Remembrance Day, jointly organised by Work for Smile and Urdu Global. The event brought together several community leaders, councillors, and local dignitaries who gathered to honour the sacrifices of those who gave their lives for peace and freedom.

The ceremony was attended by Member of Parliament Andrew Gwynne, Councillor Jill, Councillor Suzanne, Councillor Rabnawaz, Councillor Ahmed Ali, and Councillor Abid Chohan, the former Lord Mayor of Manchester. All speakers paid glowing tributes to the brave men and women who laid down their lives in defence of the nation.


Two Minutes of Silence Observed

A touching moment came when the entire hall stood in two minutes of silence in memory of the martyrs. The atmosphere was filled with deep respect and emotion as attendees reflected on the sacrifices made for freedom and peace.

In their remarks, the dignitaries highlighted the universal message of Remembrance Day — peace, unity, and humanity. They acknowledged the contributions of people from diverse faiths and backgrounds who served together, symbolising the spirit of shared compassion that defines the United Kingdom today.

The event organiser, Muhammad Khair uz Zaman, expressed heartfelt thanks to all guests and participants, stating:

“Remembrance Day reminds us that peace and service to humanity are the greatest values. We will continue to collaborate with Open Kitchen Manchester to organise more community welfare events for the betterment of society.”
