The World Sindhi Congress organized a grand event in Bradford, UK to pay tribute to the heroes of Sindh. The event commemorated the brave sons and daughters who sacrificed their lives in the struggle for Sindh’s sovereignty, human rights, and national identity — whether they were famous or unknown. These brave men will always be remembered in golden letters in the pages of history.

The event began with a performance of the Sindhi National Anthem by Kamran Lashari, which moved the audience and revived national sentiments.

The program was beautifully presented by Gul Sanai, and was divided into two main parts:

Part One: “Voice of Sindh”

The session featured passionate speeches by the youth. Talha Rind, Hiba Jarwar, and Halar Sanai paid tribute to historical figures such as Comrade Sobhu Gianchandani.
National poetry by Sonhan Ali Memon and the song “Sindh Murki Pei” sung by the graceful Shahid Channa filled the atmosphere with patriotic fervor.

Video messages from Sindh by Surath Lohar, Sanghar Jaman Darbadar, Dr. Parh Sarai Qurban Kahawar, Haleem Baghi, and others kept the event connected to the homeland.

Part II: “Tribute to Heroes, Current Issues, and the Way Forward”

The session began with a minute’s silence in memory of the brave leader of Sindh, the late Hurun-Nisa Palijo, who dedicated her life to the struggle for women’s rights in Sindh. Her demise has left a deep void, but her struggle remains an example for Sindhis even today.

Special tributes were paid to the volunteers for providing food, water, and other services during the Babarloo sit-in, and their sacrifices were fully appreciated.

The keynote speakers of the session included Dr. Hidayat Bhutto, UK and Europe Organizer, Muhammad Yunus, Awami Workers Party North UK, Taha Rind Sindhi Sangat UK, Hafizan Wadhiyo, and Rauf Leghari. The focus of their speeches was on the Sindhi political movement, exploitation of resources, and the importance of unity.

The keynote address was given by Dr. Lakho Lohana, Chairman World Sindhi Congress.

He highlighted in detail the existential threats facing Sindh, including the construction of six illegal canals on the Indus River, land grabbing in the name of agricultural projects, water theft by Punjab, and the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC)’s damage to Sindh’s resources, environment, and sovereignty.

Dr. Lohana appealed to the international community for awareness and solidarity, and stressed that these measures are a grave threat to the very existence of Sindh, which requires joint resistance.

The resolutions passed at the event are as follows:

Strong condemnation of the government’s support for the killers of Dr. Shahnawaz Kambhar’s extrajudicial killing

Strong condemnation of forced religious conversions and child marriages of Sindhi Hindu girls

Strong opposition to illegal canals on the Indus River

Demand for the return of lands given in the name of corporate farming and their distribution to the local poor farmers

Rejection of the structure and decisions of the Council of Common Interests by the Sindhi people

The program concluded with a cultural performance by Kamran Lashari, Manzoor Balkani, and Shahid Channa, which further strengthened the spirit of national identity.

The event concluded with traditional Sindhi cuisine and social interaction, which was a rich expression of Sindhi resistance, identity, and unity.
