A colorful ceremony was held in Manchester City Center on Chinese New Year – shows were also presented and gifts were distributed to children. Lord Mayor Manchester City Councilor Paul Andrew, Mayor Rochdale Councilor Shakeel Ahmed – Mayor Bolton Councilor Andy Morgan – Mayor Trafford Amy Waite – Mayor Tameside Hattie Affleck, Deputy Lieutenant in Jerry Young – General Manager Napoleon Cassino Debbie Phillips – President of the Federation of Chinese Manchester Lisa Yam – Vice Chairman – Superintendent of Police Manchester – and Dr. Mr. Hong – Erica – Officer Consul General Lorraine – and other leading figures of Greater Manchester, along with the special participation of the Chinese Consul General in Manchester, Teng Rui. On this occasion, Lord Mayor of Manchester City Councilor Paul Andrew – Mayor of Trafford Amy Waite – Mayor of Bolton Andy Morgan said, “I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to the Chinese community on this happy occasion and wish them a brilliant future.” Mayor Rochdale Councillor Shakeel Ahmed said that the multicultural community living in Greater Manchester should promote mutual harmony by participating in each other’s festivals. Deputy Lieutenant-General Jerry Young wished the Chinese community a Happy New Year and expressed his best wishes for the coming year. Laura, the Chinese Consul General in Manchester, also extended her heartfelt congratulations. Debbie Phillips, General Manager of Napoleon Casino, and others who attended the colourful event also congratulated the Chinese community on the start of the New Year and expressed their best wishes for the future. Teng Rui, Consul General of the People’s Republic of China, thanked all the guests who attended the Chinese New Year celebration and said that China has and will always have very close relations with Pakistan.

The mutual unity, agreement and harmony within the multicultural community living in Greater Manchester is enviable, a living example of which was demonstrated at the event. The participant is the participation of the intercultural community.
