The delegation presented a memorandum acknowledging the significant steps taken by the federal and provincial governments to enhance the welfare, protection and representation of religious minorities, including the launch of targeted civil services training, the establishment of a commission for the protection of minority rights, the expansion of financial grants for the security of minority festivals and improvements in the security of places of worship.
The diaspora representatives appreciated recent initiatives such as the Punjab government’s minority card, increased Christmas and Diwali grants, financial assistance for Sikh families, Sindh’s minority scholarship programme, and the installation of CCTV cameras at hundreds of religious places. These steps reflect a growing commitment to protecting the cultural, social and economic rights of minorities across Pakistan.
The High Commissioner reiterated the Government of Pakistan’s commitment to upholding constitutional guarantees and building an inclusive, secure and equitable society for all, in line with the vision of the founding fathers.
