A special event was held at Oldham Council Offices to celebrate the birth of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and switch on the lights, attended by scholars from all mosques – a cake was also cut

The second annual event was hosted by Oldham Council Leader Councillor Urooj Shah, .
Mosque Council Secretary Tariq Rafiq and Qari Muhammad Rasib acted as stage secretaries – the special event was attended by representatives from the majority of Oldham mosques, as well as community leaders and councillors from all political parties.
Participants highlighted a collective commitment to promoting harmony and peace.
The celebration highlighted the fundamental teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), who is a beacon of light for all humanity – as religious scholars have said his life and mission show us how to be our best selves and care for all sections of society. He urged people to show compassion for every part of God’s creation — including animals, insects and plants — and to maintain cleanliness. The Prophet’s message is a clear and powerful call to stand up against injustice and injustice.
Reflecting on his life, it is clear that being a good Muslim means being a good and contributing member of society. The event encouraged everyone in Oldham to embrace the values ​​of compassion and unity. The celebration concluded with the Old Library being beautifully illuminated with green lights, a symbolic gesture of the light and guidance that the Prophet’s teachings bring to the world.
Oldham Mayor Eddie Mornay spoke about working together with everyone to make Oldham a better place for all communities. All attendees expressed their heartfelt thanks to both Oldham Mosques Council and Oldham Council for organising the event, who worked so hard to make it a great success.
Abdul Karim, Chairperson of Oldham Mosques Council, concluded the event with a message of thanks to all the scholars and all those present. He said that the legacy of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) shows us that by following the path of goodness, we can create a stronger, more harmonious community for all.
