In order to convey the Kashmiri Pakistani culture and Pahari and Po Thawari language to the young generation living in the UK, prominent filmmaker and actor Zafar Iqbal, after successful screenings in other cities of the UK, screened two films for the first time on South Asian Heritage Month at Rochdale Town Hall. In the UK, the first Pahari Pothwari feature film Miki Kharo Kashmir set a record for success across the UK and the second film was screened in England, Pakistan and Jammu Kashmir, in which the community with their families attended in numbers, surpassing all the previous ones in terms of numbers. The record breaking hall was huge – apart from families, Mayor Rochdale Councilor Shakeel Ahmed – Mayor Rubina Shakeel Bibi – Anchor Mehboob Khan – Actress Sonia Khan – Kashif Khan – Deputy Leader Councilor Ali Adalat – Community Leader Javed Akhtar – Singer Zahid Ali – Actress Zarqa Ahmed – Hamza Zafar – Zubair Ali participated – On this occasion Mayor Rochdale Councilor Shakeel Ahmed said that filmmaker Zafar Iqbal has made a good effort to convey the identity of the mother tongue to the young generation through the film. More films should be made of Tara – Filmmaker and actor Zafar Iqbal said that films should be made to highlight the mother tongue and culture – The community appreciated our efforts across the UK – We will continue to make such efforts in the future in all communities and I thank Town Hall Rochdale for its support – Town Hall Manager Victoria Hilton also appreciated the efforts of filmmaker Zafar Iqbal – Famous anchor Mehboob Khan aka Mobi said that Kashmiri Pothwari culture and language will be used by the young generation living in Britain. Such efforts to reach are commendable – for which the organizers are appreciative – actress Sonia said that artists provide entertainment for the community despite the most difficult conditions.
