

April 29, 2025 (Tuesday) – A dignified and heartwarming ceremony was organized at Government Major Munir Shaheed High School, Jhelum Cantt, where alumni from the Batch of 1984 generously distributed school uniforms, shoes, and notebooks among deserving students. The event was presided over by the school’s head, Qari Muhammad Rafiq Kanial, while the Chief Guest was Ms. Nazia Shehzadi, CEO of the District Education Authority, Jhelum.
The ceremony commenced with a recitation from the Holy Quran followed by a tribute in the form of a Naat. Alumni representatives, including Dr. Naseem (Muslim Dental, Lahore Mor), Sub-Inspector Riaz Butt, and other former students, participated with great enthusiasm. Their generous contribution exemplified a strong commitment to education and compassion for underprivileged students.
In her address, Ms. Nazia Shehzadi praised the initiative, stating:
“Bringing the light of education to financially challenged students is a shared responsibility. This noble step taken by the alumni is truly commendable and sets a powerful example for society. Such initiatives not only encourage students but also reflect the true spirit of educational institutions.”
The event also saw the special participation of Advocate Chaudhry Amjad Farooq Gondal, member of the school council, and Ms. Momina Mahro Gondal, President of the Women’s Wing, PTU Jhelum, who offered words of encouragement to the students.
The Chief Guest received a warm welcome with a bouquet and a floral tribute by the students. Among other notable attendees were Mr. Sarfraz Ahmed, Zonal Head of Saeela Zone, former Headmaster Ghulam Mustafa Gondal, school council members, and dedicated teachers. The speakers appreciated the philanthropic spirit behind the event and congratulated Qari Muhammad Rafiq for its successful organization.
In his concluding remarks, Qari Muhammad Rafiq Kanial expressed gratitude to the distinguished guests, alumni, and school council and reaffirmed the school’s commitment to continue supporting such welfare initiatives in the future.
