On this occasion, the Superintendent of Prisons gave a comprehensive briefing on the overall administrative affairs and performance of the prison.

Peshawar:(Special Correspondent) According to UG NEWS, on the special instructions of Additional Chief Secretary Home Department Mr. Ikramullah Khan, Inspector General of Prisons Mr. Rehan Gul Khattak visited Central Jail Mardan. On his arrival, the Honorable IG Prisons was presented with a guard of honor. The Honorable IG met the executive officers and ministerial staff and was informed about the problems faced by them. On this occasion, the Superintendent of Prisons gave a comprehensive briefing on the overall administrative affairs and performance of the prison, after which the Honorable IG made a detailed inspection of various departments of the prison. He visited the Cook House, Jail Hospital, Juvenile Sector, Women Sector, Skill Development Center and Control Room. During the visit to the Jail Hospital, the Honorable IG met the prisoners undergoing treatment, reviewed their ongoing medical treatment and expressed satisfaction. In addition, the medicine store was also inspected, which was found to be fully equipped with quality medicines in sufficient quantity. Later, the Honorable IG Prisons also visited the detergent factory, men’s tailoring workshop, women’s tailoring workshop and bed industry and appreciated the quality of products manufactured in the prison industry. The Honorable IG personally heard the problems of the prisoners, however, no complaint was received. He also met the visiting dignitaries and apprised them of the welfare policies being implemented by the government for the convenience of prisoners and their families. On this occasion, the Honorable IG Prisons launched a tree plantation drive and planted a sapling in the jail premises and stressed the importance of environmental protection. Furthermore, he directed to resolve the issues of the jail staff on priority basis and assured full cooperation from the Inspectorate for the welfare of the staff. At the end of the visit, the Honorable IG Prisons inaugurated the newly renovated control room equipped with modern CCTV cameras and the first ever Jail Educational Academy established in the province for the children of the jail staff. The Honorable IG appreciated the professional dedication and effective administrative performance of the Superintendent Jail and his team.
