This special celebration, emceed by Tariq Rafique, Secretary of the Mosques Council, and Qari Mohammed Rasab Sahib brought together representatives from the majority of Oldham’s mosques, along with community leaders and councillors from across the political
spectrum. This underscored an undeniable collective commitment to fostering harmony and peace.
The celebration highlighted the fundamental teachings of the Prophet (PBUH), which serve as a timeless guide for all of humanity. As scholars shared, his life and mission show us how to be our best selves and to be caring toward all sections of society. They urged people to be compassionate to every part of God’s creation— including animals, insects, and plants—and to uphold cleanliness. The Prophet’s message is a clear and powerful call to stand for justice and against oppression.
Reflecting on his life demonstrates that being a good Muslim means being a good and contributing member of society. This inspiring event encouraged everyone in Oldham to embrace the values of kindness, compassion, and unity. The celebration culminated with the Old Library being beautifully illuminated with green lights, a symbolic gesture of the light and guidance the Prophet’s teachings bring to the world.
Oldham Mayor Clir Eddie Moores spoke about everyone working together to make Oldham the best place for all communities. All attendees expressed sincere gratitude to the dedicated teams from both the Oldham Mosques Council and the Oldham Council for their hard work in making this event a resounding success.
Abdul Karim, the Chairperson of the Oldham Mosques Council, echoed the scholars’ statements and closed the event with a message of thanks to everyone who attended. The Prophet Muhammad’s legacy shows us that by walking a path of goodness, we can create a stronger, more harmonious community for all.
