Oldham Council Opposition Leader Kamran Ghafoor, Workers Party Deputy Leader Imtiaz Ahmed, Group Deputy Leader Councillor Abdul Waheed, former Mayor Councillor Shoaib Akhtar, Councillor Naila Ibrahim, Raja Maqsood Hussain – Chaudhry Zulfiqar – Muhammad Azam and other prominent figures participated-

Chadderton—Saqib —-Newly elected chairman Riffat Hussain said that it is an honor to be elected chairman of the Oldham Group. The group will utilize all resources for the betterment of the community at the local level. Opposition Leader of Oldham Council Kamran Ghafoor said that today we have formed an electoral alliance with the Workers Party, we stand with George Galloway on Palestine and we will make our own decisions at the local level. Deputy Leader of the Workers Party Imtiaz Ahmed said that we have formed an alliance with the Oldham Group. Councillor Kamran Ghafoor is working in a very organized manner and we are very impressed with him. Former Councillor and General Secretary of the Jammu and Kashmir Self-Determination Movement International, Muhammad Azam, said that we have committed to bringing about change at the local level and to making our candidates successful in the council elections next year with a better strategy. Former Mayor Councillor Shoaib Akhtar said that we have decided on a strategy on how to implement our manifesto and have also announced our candidates for the council elections next year. Deputy Leader of the Oldham Group, Councillor Abdul Waheed said that we have formally registered the Oldham Group as a party. Today was our first annual meeting. Internationally renowned socio-political figures Raja Maqsood Hussain Kakarvi and Chaudhry Zulfiqar said that the spirit of revolutionary change among the youth is visible and we hope that they will win the upcoming council elections at the Oldham level with a huge majority. Councillor Naila Ibrahim said that our first annual meeting was very successful. Daniyal Hussain, a young man active in social and religious activities, said that the Oldham Group will fly the flag of success in the future. – After the meeting, the leader of the Workers’ Party, former MP George Galloway, in a special video message, praised the Oldham Group for contesting the elections together and said that the Labour Party will be defeated in the next election.
