SWAT:(Special Correspondent) According to UG NEWS, the third meeting of the Malakand Varsities Consortium was held at the University of Swat. The special guest of the meeting was the Special Secretary Higher Education, Archives and Libraries Department, Mr. Sharif Hussain, who also presided over the meeting. The meeting was attended by the Vice Chancellors of all the participating universities of the Malakand Division, including the University of Swat, University of Malakand, University of Buner, Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University Sheringal, University of Engineering and Applied Sciences Swat, University of Agriculture Swat and University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Swat. In addition, Principal Saidu Medical College represented Khyber Medical University Peshawar. During the meeting, the working paper was finalized after detailed deliberations, while a Letter of Intent (LoI) was also signed between the partner universities. This document was prepared by Professor Dr. Hassan Sher, Vice Chancellor, University of Swat, with the aim of promoting innovation, capacity building and socio-economic development of the region by utilizing the combined capabilities of these institutions. The meeting discussed in detail the key objectives of the consortium, which include academic collaboration, research and innovation, professional development of faculty and staff, youth involvement and social development, support in policy making and external relations, administrative structure and future roadmap of the consortium. At the end of the meeting, all the participants thanked the Honorable Special Secretary Higher Education for taking out valuable time to chair the meeting. The participants also expressed their sincere gratitude to the Vice Chancellor of University of Swat, Dr. Hassan Sher, for organizing and hosting the meeting.
