Universities play a key role in social development. Dr. Hassan Sher addresses the inaugural ceremony
SWAT:(Special Correspondent) According to UG NEWS, Chancellor of the University of Swat Dr. Hassan Sher inaugurated the IT Lab and Library in District Jail Swat. During the visit, Vice Chancellor Swat University visited the Drug Detention Center and other departments in the jail. In addition to officers of the District Administration Swat and Police Department, the Regional Information Officer Swat and the Chairman of the Swat Press Club were also present on the occasion. Speaking at the ceremony held in the jail, the Vice Chancellor said that today is a reflection of the fact that we as a nation are seriously moving towards adopting the philosophy of reform with punishment and education with imprisonment. The establishment of the library is a sign that we do not want to imprison minds but rather equip them with knowledge. Similarly, the inauguration of the computer center is proof that we want to adapt our people to the modern era. Today’s world is incomplete without digital skills. Computer education is not just a skill but a means of employment and self-reliance. It will lay the foundation for a dignified life in the future. The importance of the vocational center is even greater. A skilled person is never a burden. It is a matter of joy that the prison administration has prioritized educational and technical facilities while implementing the reform system. I pay tribute to the Superintendent of Prisons and his entire team who, despite limited resources, have taken practical steps for a great cause. Universities play a key role in social development. I am sure that this collaboration between the university and the prison administration will become stronger. Finally, I thank all the institutions, officers, teachers and support staff who played a role in the completion of this project. I pray that Allah Almighty accepts this effort and makes it a means of reform, peace and social harmony.
