Stockholm:(Report by Rauf Aliyev) According to Ug News Europe,The possibility of Finland joining NATO without waiting for the approval of Sweden’s application has increased.Ug News Europe reports that Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson said this at a press conference in Stockholm.NATO talks between Sweden, Turkey and Finland resumed in late February after a short break, but the countries have yet to reach an agreement that meets their common interests. At the same time, some Turkish officials have recently mentioned the possibility of approving only Finland’s application in the current situation, and according to the Swedish Prime Minister, the possibility of this scenario becoming a reality has increased. The head of the Swedish government said that the solution of the issue is in the hands of Turkey, and if such a scenario is realized, Sweden is ready to accept only the situation of neighboring Finland joining NATO. “Actually, the question is not whether Sweden will join NATO, but when Sweden will join NATO,” said Ulf Kristersson. For his part, Oskar Stenstrom, Sweden’s chief negotiator for NATO membership negotiations with Turkey, said that confidential negotiations are being held with Ankara. It should be noted that Sweden and Finland officially applied to join NATO on May 18, 2022. In order for these countries to become members of NATO, all the countries that are members of the alliance must ratify the membership protocol. However, Turkey has refused to ratify the protocol until these countries lift arms embargoes and strengthen the fight against terrorist organizations in their territories
