A grand dinner was organized at the Royal Nawab Restaurant in Manchester in connection with the election campaign of Labour Party candidate for the election of Mayor of Greater Manchester Bev Craig. The event was hosted by Bangladesh British Society Chairman Mohammad Islam Mahi. :
The event held at the Royal Nawab Restaurant was attended by political, social and business figures, including Lord Wajid Khan – Member of British Parliament Afzal Khan – Deputy Leader of the Labour Party UK Lucy Powell, British property tycoon Anil Musarrat – Former Leader of Oldham Council Urooj Shah – Barrister Aamir Ilyas – Assistant High Commissioner to Bangladesh Jobid Hussain – – Mayors of various cities in Greater Manchester – including Lord Mayor of Manchester Councillor Shaukat Ali – Mayor of Rochdale Faisal Rana – Mayor of Bari Tahir Rafique – Mayor of Warrington Chaudhry Sagheer Zaman – Mayor of Tameside – Former Mayor Tafheen Sharif – Shibli Alam – Mayor of Bolton Muhammad Iqbal – Councillor Bari Taimur Tariq – Pink Tea Group Ambassador Ashi – Councillor Ali Ahmed – Councillor Shahbaz Sarwar – , councillors, business leaders and a large number of community members also attended. On this occasion, the speakers said that strong leadership is essential for the development, harmony and promotion of public service in Greater Manchester. Speakers praised Beau Craig for his leadership, public service and vision for Greater Manchester and wished him well in his election campaign.
Event host Muhammad Islam Mahi said that such events are playing an important role in bringing different communities together on one platform and promoting their full participation in the democratic process.
