Due to no political party having a majority, the Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Leader and Deputy Leader could not be elected at the annual meeting of Oldham Council held in May and the meeting was postponed until June. In the meeting held yesterday, Councillor Pam Byrne presented her name, which was voted in by Reform UK – Oldham Group, Liberal Democratic and Conservative Party and elected as the new mayor. Former Council Leader and Labour Leader Urooj Shah – Former Mayor Councillor Dr. Zahid Chauhan – congratulated Councillor Pam Byrne on this election and described her as an excellent and respected candidate. They expressed their happiness on the election of Pam Byrne and congratulated her. Deputy Leader of Oldham Group Councillor Ayesha – Councillor Zaheer Ali Councillor Soni Shah Aristan – – Councillor Naveed Chohan – Councillor Raja Shabbir Kakarvi congratulated Palmburn on his election as Mayor. And while welcoming the election, he expressed his best wishes for Palmburn. Newly elected Councillor Palmburn expressed surprise and gratitude at receiving the support of such a large number of councillors. Oldham Council is in a political crisis. If the situation continues like this, there is a possibility of intervention from the Central Government.
