On Sunday, April 27, at approximately 0518 hours, a miscreant later identified by British law enforcement agencies as Ankit LOVE, who was in his early forties, attacked the premises of the Pakistan High Commission, 34-36 Lowndes Square, London. Ankit threw stones at the outer wall of the building and broke several saffron-colored windows, leaving saffron-colored stains on the High Commission’s nameplate and the main wall.
Our on-duty staff immediately informed the Metropolitan Police, who immediately reached the scene and arrested the suspect shortly after the incident. The attack took place in the context of violent and chaotic protests outside the High Commission on Friday, April 25, 2025, involving members of the Indian/British Indian community, who were shouting anti-Pakistan and anti-Muslim slogans. Several protesters—some dressed in saffron, which is commonly associated with extremist Hindutva groups, and waving Indian flags—engaged in an extremely hostile manner. They hurled racist and Islamophobic abuse at High Commission officials as well as Metropolitan Police officers, resulting in several arrests after scuffles with British law enforcement officials.
We are in constant contact with the Metropolitan Police to obtain full details of Ankit as his nationality has not yet been disclosed by the authorities.
We expect British law enforcement agencies to take legal action against Ankit, as well as the other rowdy protesters detained on Friday, in accordance with relevant British laws.
Regrettably, this is not the first incident where Pakistan’s High Commission or our Consulate in the UK has been attacked.
We have reiterated our request to the UK authorities to immediately increase security measures, to ensure the safety and integrity of our diplomatic missions and to ensure the protection of our diplomatic staff. We expect the host authorities to ensure the safety and dignity of diplomatic missions, in line with their obligations under the Vienna Convention.
