Rochdale’s prominent business and social figure and Coco’s Restaurant CEO Chaudhry Kale Khan and his sons hosted a reception at Coco’s Restaurant Rochdale in honor of the newly elected Mayor of Rochdale, Councillor Shakeel, who hails from Azad Kashmir. The event was attended by Deputy Leader Councillor Ali Adalat, Councillor Aftab Hussain and select community figures. Other attendees included former Mayor Muhammad Zaman, Councillor Tahir Rafique, business and political figure Chaudhry Abdul Ghafoor, Lala Ali Asghar Babu, Consultant Dr Tahir Bashir Baig, Muhammad Idris, Richard Hall, Officer Nazim Salman, Alisha, Rachel Hudson, Naila, Victoria Murphy, Chaudhry Aitzaz Asim, Qamar Zaman, Haji Muhammad Iqbal, Haji Muhammad Riaz. On this occasion, Mayor Shakeel Ahmed thanked the guests for the reception in his honor and He said that Rochdale is home to a multicultural community. It is a pleasure that we work together with all communities. Today, most of the people present at this event are from my area, Chhatro. It is a matter of pride for me to be elected as the mayor of Rochdale. Host Chaudhry Kale Khan thanked Mayor Shakeel Ahmed and all the guests at the reception and said that he hopes that Mayor Shakeel Ahmed will serve the Rochdale community well and bring glory to his family and his area, Chhatro. Other participants said that they are grateful to Chaudhry Kale Khan for bringing the community together and doing a great job. The participants further said that Mayor Shakeel Ahmed is a prominent figure in the community. We hope that during his mayoral tenure, he will solve the problems of the community as well as the problems related to Pakistan and Kashmir. We expect that he will play his full role for the community. Finally, the guests were treated to delicious food from Koz Restaurant.

The election of the first mayor from Azad Kashmir to Rochdale Council is a matter of pride and honour for the community
